Celebrity make-up blunders

It's official: men prefer women without make-up, which could be bad news for the likes of Jordan, Christina Aguilera and Amy Winehouse.
Celebrity make-upAccording to a new survey St Ives, wearing thick layers of foundation, too much blusher and leaving eye make-up on overnight are three of the biggest make-up turn-offs for men.

But while most men confessed to prefering their women bare-faced, few felt able to voice their cosmetics concerns to their other halves, with just under half admitting they had done so.

Interestingly, the main reason us girls sometimes wear too much make-up is because we're trying to hide bad skin, according to the survey.

"If women felt more confident that their skin was in good condition, they wouldn't need to wear so much make-up to cover up," said a spokesman for St Ives.

Still, men aren't just worried about foundation. The study also found that the stronger sex don't like false eyelashes, bright lipstick, Amy Winehouse-style eyeliner 'flicks', dark lip-liner or pencilled-in eyebrows.

With nearly half of us admitting that we won't leave the house without any make-up on, perhaps this means us girls shouldn't be so worried about what's in our make-up bags any more?

Meanwhile, we take a look at the celebrities who may have taken it a step too far in the cosmetics stakes. Heavy eyeliner, cakey foundation and excessive eye shadow are only a few make-up blunders that can be spotted here.

See 12 stars who probably should have checked a mirror before they went out and find out how to avoid looking like a hot mess.
